Indian Air Force Chief AP Singh on Friday contradicted the claims of tech billionaire Elon Musk that unmanned technologies like drones are the future of warfare. The Air Chief Marshal said that manned platforms will also remain relevant when it comes to warfighting.
Describing his analogy, he said, “The importance of man, as of now and as I can see in the foreseeable future, is not going to fade away.”

He admitted that unmanned systems will exist, but clarified that they would either have to work in collaboration with manned systems or be controlled by humans. “So the relevance of fighters will remain in the years to come,” he stated.
He further remarked that Elon Musk is a businessman and will speak in that manner because he is running a business. “His cars, now you see how many of them are there on the road. I’m talking about just a simple car,” he said.
Adding further, he noted, “When it comes to warfighting, I don’t think we can just say that the next generation will see only unmanned systems by the end of their tenure. It will not happen like that. So manned platforms will remain.”
In his speech today, he busted Pakistani propaganda over the downing of Indian jets during Operation Sindoor, describing it as “Manohar Kahaniyan”.
“Their (Pakistan) narrative is ‘Manohar Kahaniyan’. Let them be happy, after all, they also have to show something to their audience to save their reputation. That doesn’t matter to me,” Singh said.
His remarks came days after Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif claimed in his UNGA address that Indian jets were downed during the May conflict between the nuclear-armed neighbours.
